Take small steps to lower your carbon footprint

Changing how we do things to help the environment is really hard, especially when you have big food businesses encouraging us to buy in ways that tell me they really haven't got the message yet. One buying decision for sustainable living we can all make is to buy more in season UK grown produce and less imported fruit and vegetables.

So what's in season during December? Look for beetroot, celeriac, white, red and savoy cabbage, artichoke, broccoli, cauliflower, radish, celery, onion, leek, spinach, horse radish and of course brussels sprout. In season fruit includes cranberries, apples and pears.

For 2022 I am going to only buy uk grown in season fruit and veg - I'm not sure how I am going to deal with my banana obsession and I am not at all keen on cabbage but I am going to give it a go and I'll be documenting how I get on here. Join me if you can and add your comments to my blogs. If you are a member I am pretty sure you can comment on my blogs but please let me know if you can't and I will fix it on the website. With just over 2 weeks to Christmas, I am only half way through my Christmas gift shopping, so I am going to look at my list and try and get organised!
